China Brief Submission Policy

Individual and corporate members are invited to submit articles for publication in Am-Cham-China¡¯s monthly magazine China Brief. We accept articles both in English and Chinese. Please note that Chinese submissions will appear in the original form, and will not be translated into English. The preferred length is 3,000 words, but shorter and longer submissions will be considered when deemed justifiable.

Submissions should be sent to:

Editor@AmCham-China.org.cn

Please include pictures as appropriate. The submission deadline is the first day of the month prior to publication (for example, March 1 is the deadline for articles to be published in the April issue).

Submission Criteria:

Corporate Submissions: Articles should cover industry trends, developments in the Chinese/world economy, or other similar topics. Strong priority will be given to articles that appeal to a wide range of AmCham members, and not only specific industries. While this is a chance for member companies to increase their visibility, the goal is to provide our readers with useful content. In this spirit we encourage articles to be substantive rather than promotional. Companies will receive full accreditation, with corporate logos when applicable.

Individual Submissions: China Brief will consider articles with themes that fit the corporate submission criteria from individuals as well. However, we also encourage members to submit writing that discuss more personal experiences in China. AmCham-China has thousands of members, both new to the country and ¡®old hands.¡¯ These two groups, and everyone in between, have interesting stories that people want to hear. Individual submissions are a chance to share a little bit of yourself with the community.

Magazine Reprints: Finally, China Brief is also looking to partner with magazines on stories both about business in China, as well as life here. We have a sophisticated and large audience, so reprinting articles in AmCham¡¯s magazine is an ideal way to increase a publication¡¯s profile.

Guidelines: By submitting an article to China Brief for publication, authors grant AmCham-China the rights to print it, with full accreditation, in the magazine, and post it on the AmCham-China website. China Brief reserves the right to make all final editorial decisions regarding content.

China Brief needs to receive an electronic copy of articles by the third day of the month to be considered for the following month¡¯s issue. Submissions received after that date may be considered for future issues.

It is the responsibility of people submitting material to inform China Brief if submissions have previously been published, or are being considered for publication, elsewhere. A failure to inform China Brief will result in disqualification from consideration. Furthermore, future publication of articles that appear first in China Brief require the explicit consent of AmCham-China. Excerpts from books that members have written will be considered for publication. However, when applying, members must include legally binding permission to re-print the material from the applicable publisher.

China Brief retains the right to make all decisions regarding publication and editing.
