As Head of Government Relations for McDonald's (China) Co., Ltd., Greg Gilligan is responsible for executing strategies that enhance the McDonald's brand and corporate image, ensuring McDonald's business meets with support from China's regulatory bodies and communicating corporate compliance and strategic initiatives with government regulators and other key influencers. Gilligan also heads McDonald's recent establishment of the China chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities, and has been elected to the 2008 Board of Governors for the American Chamber of Commerce - China.
Gilligan first joined McDonald's in 1995 as Executive Trainee for McDonald's Corporation based in Oak Brook, Illinois USA and was assigned as Operations Manager, Fuzhou, China in January, 1997. Gilligan held a number of positions in McDonald's China's Operations structure until being appointed as General Manager in 2002 for McDonald's Fujian. Before taking on his current role in Government Relations in November, 2005, he was General Manager for Southeast China, encompassing Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi Provinces.
Mr. Gilligan holds a Bachelor degree in History from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, NJ, USA, a Master of Arts in Asian Studies and a Juris Doctor degree, both from Washington University, St. Louis, MO, USA, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, IL, USA.
Additionally, Gilligan holds professional qualification as an attorney, a member of the Missouri Bar Association in good standing since 1995.
